Consultant Histopathologist – Connolly Hospital Dublin

Connolly Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Histopathologist to join its specialist pathology team in Dublin North. This permanent wholetime opportunity offers the successful candidate the chance to contribute at senior clinical level within a dynamic acute hospital environment serving a large regional population.

This Consultant Histopathologist Dublin role is ideal for a motivated specialist who is committed to clinical excellence, multidisciplinary collaboration, and advancing diagnostic pathology services within the public health system.

Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive histopathology diagnostic services across a broad case mix.
Report on surgical pathology, cytology, and biopsy specimens in accordance with best practice standards.
Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and clinical case discussions.
Contribute to quality assurance, clinical governance, and laboratory accreditation processes.
Support training and supervision of NCHDs and laboratory staff.
Engage in service development, research, and audit activities.
Participate in on-call rotas as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Full registration on the Specialist Division of the Medical Council of Ireland in Histopathology.
Significant post-certification experience in diagnostic histopathology.
Demonstrated expertise across a broad histopathology case spectrum.
Strong leadership and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
Commitment to continuous professional development and service improvement.
Excellent communication and reporting skills.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Salary is aligned with the HSE Consultant salary scale under the August 2025 Consolidated Pay Scales and is subject to public sector pay policy. Final placement on the scale will depend on qualifications and relevant experience.
