An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Neurologist in Kerry and Cork within HSE South West. This permanent wholetime role spans University Hospital Kerry and Cork University Hospital, delivering specialist neurology services across the region.
This position offers the chance to shape neurological services, lead multidisciplinary teams, and drive excellence in patient-centred care across two major hospitals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultant-level neurology services across University Hospital Kerry and Cork University Hospital.
- Diagnose and manage complex neurological conditions in inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Lead and support multidisciplinary clinical teams.
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to service development and regional neurology strategy.
- Engage in teaching, mentoring, and supervision of NCHDs and allied healthcare professionals.
- Participate in on-call and emergency neurology cover as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland (Neurology).
- Significant post-registration experience in Neurology.
- Demonstrated leadership and service development experience.
- Strong commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care.
- Experience in clinical audit, research, or quality improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Salary in line with Consultant salary scales as per Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (1 August 2025) :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}.
- Permanent Wholetime contract (37 hours per week).
- 28 hours per week at University Hospital Kerry.
- 9 hours per week at Cork University Hospital.
