Job Overview
The Consultant Paediatrician Waterford will provide specialist paediatric services with a Special Interest (S.I.) in Palliative Medicine. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, family-centred care across acute and community settings while contributing to service development and regional strategy.
This role offers the opportunity to lead, innovate and strengthen paediatric palliative services within a well-established multidisciplinary framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultant-level paediatric services with a special interest in Palliative Medicine.
- Deliver high-quality clinical care in both hospital and integrated homecare settings.
- Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and care planning.
- Participate in service development, governance, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide clinical supervision, teaching and mentoring to junior medical staff.
- Engage in audit, research and continuous professional development activities.
- Contribute to regional and national paediatric care strategies as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registration as a Specialist in the Specialist Division of the Medical Council of Ireland (Paediatrics).
- Special Interest (S.I.) in Palliative Medicine.
- Extensive experience in paediatric clinical practice.
- Demonstrated leadership and service development capability.
- Excellent communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Commitment to high standards of governance and patient safety.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is aligned with the HSE Consultant pay scale in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (1 August 2025) .
- Permanent Wholetime contract (37 hours per week total).
