This Consultant Physician Geriatric Medicine Dublin role offers the opportunity to lead high-quality, patient-centred care for older adults while shaping clinical services across acute, rehabilitation, and community pathways.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultant-led geriatric medicine services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of older patients.
- Lead multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborate across medical, nursing, therapy, and social care disciplines.
- Deliver inpatient, outpatient, and consultative services in line with national clinical guidelines.
- Support frailty pathways, rehabilitation programmes, and discharge planning processes.
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to teaching, training, and supervision of NCHDs and medical students.
- Engage in service development and strategic planning within Geriatric Medicine.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Full registration on the Specialist Division of the Medical Council of Ireland (Geriatric Medicine or equivalent).
- Significant experience in geriatric medicine within acute hospital settings.
- Demonstrated leadership in multidisciplinary team environments.
- Commitment to clinical excellence, audit, and service development.
- Strong communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
