About the Role
The HSE’s Technology & Transformation directorate is seeking an experienced cybersecurity leader to join its Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) as Manager at Grade VIII level. This is a senior national role with responsibility for leading incident detection, analysis, response and recovery operations across the HSE’s digital infrastructure. The successful candidate will manage relationships with Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) and coordinate across multiple internal and external stakeholders to protect critical health service systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Leading and managing the HSE CSIRT function, including incident detection, triage, containment, eradication, and recovery.
- Overseeing hands-on incident response activities and ensuring effective escalation and communication protocols.
- Managing strategic relationships with MSSPs and other external security partners.
- Collaborating with senior stakeholders across the HSE and relevant government bodies to align cybersecurity response capabilities with organisational risk posture.
- Developing and maintaining CSIRT policies, procedures, playbooks, and operational frameworks.
- Contributing to the ongoing maturity of the HSE’s Security Operations Centre (SOC) environment.
- Providing expert guidance and leadership to incident response team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Significant experience in cybersecurity, with hands-on experience in incident detection, analysis, response and recovery.
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership or managerial role within an incident response team or SOC environment.
- Proven ability to work across multiple stakeholders and manage relationships with MSSPs and other security partners.
Salary
€83,911 – €101,207 per annum (HSE Grade VIII scale, 7-point scale). Based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026. No Long Service Increments (LSIs) apply to this grade.
Location
This is a national role with flexible hub-based working. The line manager is open to engagement regarding flexibility around location, subject to agreement on a minimum level of attendance at meetings at other nationwide locations as appropriate to the functions of the post.
