An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen for a Director of Nursing (Mental Health) Assistant at Newcastle Hospital, Greystones, Co. Wicklow, within HSE Dublin and South East. This permanent whole-time role offers the chance to play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality, safe, and effective mental health services across the region.
This is a senior nursing leadership position supporting service development, governance, and operational excellence within Wicklow Mental Health Services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational nursing leadership within mental health services.
- Support the Director of Nursing in ensuring safe, high-quality patient care delivery.
- Oversee clinical governance, quality assurance, and risk management frameworks.
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams across designated services.
- Contribute to service planning, workforce development, and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, HIQA standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive continuous service improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered Psychiatric Nurse with active registration on the NMBI register.
- Minimum of 7 years post-registration experience, including significant mental health leadership experience.
- Management qualification or relevant postgraduate qualification in nursing/healthcare leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in service management and governance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- In-depth understanding of Irish mental health policy and legislation.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Grade: Assistant Director of Nursing, Mental Health Services (Grade Code 2542).
- Salary Scale (effective 1 August 2025): €73,028 – €88,123 (LSIs applicable)
- Contract Type: Permanent Wholetime.
