Mallow General Hospital is currently recruiting for a permanent, full-time Domestic to join its support services team in Mallow, County Cork. Role Overview
The Domestic grade plays a vital role in maintaining the high standards of hygiene and infection prevention that are essential in an acute hospital environment. Working as part of the facilities and support services team, the successful candidate will help ensure that patient areas, clinical spaces, and ancillary facilities are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out cleaning and domestic duties across designated areas of the hospital in line with agreed schedules and infection prevention protocols.
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in patient wards, corridors, offices, and ancillary areas.
- Following HSE cleaning guidelines and HIQA standards for healthcare environments.
- Handling and disposing of waste in accordance with hospital policy.
- Using cleaning equipment and materials correctly, safely, and economically.
- Reporting maintenance issues, hazards, or concerns to the line manager promptly.
- Working flexibly as part of the wider support services team to meet the operational needs of the hospital.
Requirements

Salary and Contract
This is a permanent, whole-time post. Salary is in accordance with the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 February 2026:
€35,082 – €41,283 per annum (HSE Domestic scale, Grade 4110, 9-point scale). There are no long-service increments applicable to this grade.

Mallow General Hospital is an acute general hospital located in Mallow, County Cork, operating under HSE South West (Kerry and Cork). It provides a broad range of inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services to the North Cork catchment area.
