The Clinical Nurse Manager 1 Emergency Department Louth role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and support nursing teams within one of the busiest emergency departments nationally. Based at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, this permanent HSE position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred emergency care to adult and paediatric populations.
The Emergency Department treated over 72,000 patients in 2024, including approximately 30% paediatric presentations, and functions as the designated trauma centre for the North East region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision within the Emergency Department.
- Ensure safe, effective, and high-quality nursing care delivery.
- Support staff development, mentorship, and performance management.
- Coordinate patient flow across resuscitation rooms, treatment areas, CDU and high observation bays.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including AMAU, ATIU, and Injury Units.
- Promote adherence to clinical governance, risk management, and infection prevention standards.
- Contribute to service development and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse on the active register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum required post-registration experience in emergency or acute care settings.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making abilities.
- Experience in trauma or high-acuity environments desirable.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is aligned with the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (1 August 2025).
Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (General) Scale: €56,642 – €66,705 per annum (8-point scale)
