The Health Service Executive (HSE) is inviting applications for a Consultant Anaesthesiologist to join the team at University Hospital Galway. This permanent wholetime role offers 37 hours per week within one of Ireland’s busiest acute hospital settings. The position is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive anaesthetic services across surgical specialties.
• Deliver high-quality perioperative care in line with HSE clinical standards.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical governance activities.
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives.
• Participate in the on-call rota as required.
• Supervise and mentor NCHDs and other clinical staff.

Required Skills & Qualifications
• Specialist registration (or eligibility) in Anaesthesiology with the Irish Medical Council.
• Extensive clinical experience in anaesthesia within acute hospital settings.
• Strong decision-making, communication, and leadership skills.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and teaching.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary clinical teams.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• HSE Consultant Anaesthetist (Grade 1015), paid in accordance with the Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 August 2025.
• Permanent, full-time (37 hours per week).
