Sligo University Hospital is seeking an experienced professional for the role of Grade VII Hygiene Services Coordinator. This senior administrative and operational position plays a key leadership role in ensuring high standards of hygiene, environmental safety, and compliance within the hospital setting.

This is a permanent whole-time opportunity within the HSE West and North West region, ideal for candidates with strong management, coordination, and healthcare operations experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate hygiene services across Sligo University Hospital.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE hygiene, infection prevention, and environmental standards.
  • Manage staff performance, rostering, and operational planning.
  • Monitor service delivery metrics and implement quality improvements.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to maintain patient safety standards.
  • Oversee budgetary controls and resource allocation within hygiene services.
  • Prepare reports and support audits and inspections.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Eligibility restricted to employees of the HSE, TUSLA, Section 38 agencies, or statutory health agencies (per WRC Agreement 161867).
  • Relevant management or supervisory experience in healthcare or facilities services.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
  • Knowledge of hygiene standards, infection prevention, and hospital compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent organisational, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets, service planning, and operational targets.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Salary is aligned with the HSE Grade VII (0582) pay scale under the Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 August 2025 .

Location & Employer Information

This position is based at Sligo University Hospital, part of the HSE West and North West region covering Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, and Galway.
