The Health Service Executive is seeking a highly skilled Medical Scientist Specialist Microbiology Limerick professional to join HSE Mid West. This specified purpose wholetime position is based in Limerick and supports laboratory services across the Mid West region, including Tipperary (North) and Clare.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced microbiology specialist to contribute to high-quality diagnostic services within a progressive and patient-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform specialist microbiology laboratory investigations in accordance with national standards.
Interpret, validate and authorise complex microbiological test results.
Provide expert scientific advice to clinicians and multidisciplinary teams.
Ensure compliance with ISO standards and quality management systems.
Participate in method validation, audit and service development initiatives.
Supervise and support medical scientists and laboratory staff.
Contribute to infection prevention and control strategies across the region.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Registration with CORU as a Medical Scientist.
Recognised qualification in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
Postgraduate qualification or significant experience in Microbiology.
Demonstrated experience in a specialist microbiology laboratory setting.
Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
Commitment to quality assurance and continuous professional development.
