Job Overview

The Sligo/Leitrim Disability Services operate a progressive model of community living, with over 30 group homes across the region and ongoing expansion aligned with national policy. This campaign will form a panel to fill current and future Staff Nurse vacancies, offering varied experience across multiple care environments and strong professional development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care across intellectual disability services
  • Implement nursing procedures, practices, and clinical techniques
  • Support continuing care needs of service users
  • Manage and respond to behaviours that concern
  • Promote quality care standards and continuous improvement
  • Apply risk management principles in daily practice
  • Develop and implement person-centred care plans
  • Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and locations

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of intellectual disability nursing practice
  • Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work across varied care settings and locations
  • Commitment to person-centred care and service user advocacy
  • Flexibility to work night duty, weekends, and sleep-over shifts
  • Understanding of risk management and quality care standards

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Competitive pay aligned with public sector pay scales. Positions are available on a Permanent Part-time, Permanent Whole-time, Specified Purpose Part-time, and Specified Purpose Whole-time basis. Working hours include a rotating roster with night duty, weekend shifts, and sleep-over requirements, managed in line with the European Working Time Directive.

Location & Employer Information

This role is based within Sligo/Leitrim Disability Services, part of HSE West and North West, covering counties including Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, and Galway. The service focuses on community integration, offering care in group homes and community settings that support independence, dignity, and inclusion for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
