University Hospital Waterford is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to take up a Clinical Specialist (Trauma) role within its multidisciplinary trauma services. This permanent whole-time position offers the opportunity to deliver advanced clinical leadership, specialist assessment, and evidence-based interventions for patients with complex trauma-related needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention for trauma patients
• Provide clinical leadership and expert guidance within the multidisciplinary team
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice
• Support education, supervision, and training of staff and students
• Participate in audit, research, and evaluation of clinical outcomes
• Advocate for patient-centred, safe, and effective trauma care pathways
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration with CORU as an Occupational Therapist
• Significant post-qualification experience, including relevant trauma experience
• Demonstrated specialist clinical knowledge and leadership skills
• Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and teamwork abilities
• Experience in service development, audit, or research is desirable

• Salary in line with HSE Occupational Therapist – Clinical Specialist Grade (Code 3824), as per consolidated public sector pay scales effective 1 August 2025
