Job Overview
This is an excellent opportunity to begin a career as a Plaster Technician through a structured training programme at University Hospital Waterford. The role offers hands-on experience within a busy hospital environment, supporting patient care services while developing specialist technical skills. Successful candidates will initially be appointed on a temporary basis, progressing to a permanent role upon completion of required training and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, application, and removal of plaster casts and related materials
- Support clinical staff in delivering high-quality patient care
- Maintain plaster room equipment and ensure cleanliness and safety standards
- Prepare materials and equipment required for procedures
- Provide assistance to patients during treatment in a professional and caring manner
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times
- Participate in training programmes and competency assessments
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Interest in healthcare support services and technical training roles
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to undertake and complete required training and qualifications
- Previous healthcare or support experience is desirable but not essential
