The Rehab and Recovery Team at Merlin Park Hospital is seeking an experienced Principal Specialist Psychologist Galway professional to join Adult Mental Health Services on a permanent whole-time basis. This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to shape service delivery, provide expert clinical oversight, and support multidisciplinary mental health care across the region.
Based at Woodview, Merlin Park Hospital, this role sits within HSE West and North West and is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior clinical leadership within Adult Mental Health Services.
- Deliver specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention.
- Lead service development initiatives within the Rehab and Recovery Team.
- Supervise and mentor psychology staff and trainees.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary team planning and case management.
- Ensure compliance with professional standards and HSE policies.
- Support audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Doctoral qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology accredited by PSI.
- Eligibility for registration with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).
- Extensive post-qualification experience in Adult Mental Health.
- Demonstrated leadership and service development experience.
- Strong skills in complex case formulation and evidence-based interventions.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
