An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registrar in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join the South Galway CAMHS team within the Health Service Executive. This role offers hands-on specialist training and experience in community-based child and adolescent mental health services, supporting children, young people, and families across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric assessment and treatment to children and adolescents under CAMHS
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering evidence-based mental health care
• Participate in care planning, case conferences, and clinical reviews
• Contribute to risk assessment and crisis intervention when required
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and reports
• Engage in supervision, teaching, and continuous professional development
• Comply with HSE policies, clinical governance, and safeguarding standards

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC)
• Eligible for appointment at Registrar grade in Psychiatry
• Demonstrated interest or experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services
• Full, clean driving licence with access to own transport (essential due to travel requirements)
• Strong communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

• Salary in line with HSE Registrar (Grade 1538) pay scale: €68,891 – €81,126 per annum (effective 1 August 2025), depending on point of entry
• Fixed-term, wholetime contract
• 30 days annual leave (pro rata)

Location & Employer Information

This post is based with the South Galway CAMHS Team, serving communities across County Galway within the HSE West and North West region. The service operates in a community setting, focusing on early intervention and specialist mental health care for children and adolescents.
