The Registrar in Palliative Care Donegal role offers an excellent opportunity to develop advanced clinical expertise within specialist palliative medicine services across HSE West and North West. This Specified Purpose Wholetime contract supports high-quality, patient-centred care for individuals with life-limiting conditions while contributing to multidisciplinary collaboration and service development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive palliative medical care to patients with life-limiting illnesses across hospital and community settings.
- Assess, diagnose and manage complex symptom control in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Participate in on-call rotas and ensure continuity of care for palliative patients.
- Support and communicate effectively with patients and families regarding prognosis and care planning.
- Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Engage in teaching, supervision and professional development activities.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with HSE standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registration as a medical practitioner with the Irish Medical Council.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
- Previous experience in palliative medicine or a related specialty.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to patient-centred, compassionate care.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Grade: Registrar (Grade Code 1538).
