An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Dental Nurse to join the Orthodontic Unit at St. Finbarr’s Hospital, Cork. This permanent part-time role supports specialist orthodontic services within the HSE South West region, delivering high-quality patient-centred care in a hospital setting.
This role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and offers long-term career stability within Ireland’s public health service.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist orthodontists and dental clinicians during specialist procedures
• Prepare, maintain, and sterilise clinical equipment and instruments
• Support patient care before, during, and after orthodontic treatments
• Supervise and support junior dental nursing staff where required
• Maintain accurate clinical records in line with HSE policies
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards
• Contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Qualification as a Dental Nurse recognised in Ireland
• Eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body
• Demonstrable experience in orthodontic or dental clinical settings
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Experience at senior or supervisory level is desirable

• Salary in line with HSE Senior Dental Nurse Grade (6440) consolidated pay scales (effective August 2025)
