The Senior Orthoptist Cork opportunity offers an exciting chance to lead and deliver specialist orthoptic services within the Community Paediatric Ophthalmology Service in HSE South West. This permanent wholetime role is ideal for an experienced clinician ready to work autonomously, manage peripheral clinics, and contribute to high-quality paediatric eye care across Cork and Kerry.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced orthoptic assessment and treatment within paediatric ophthalmology services.
- Manage and coordinate peripheral orthoptic clinics across the HSE South West region.
- Work independently while maintaining strong interdisciplinary collaboration with ophthalmologists and allied health professionals.
- Contribute to service planning, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance.
- Supervise and support junior orthoptic staff and students where required.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with HSE policies and professional standards.
- Engage in ongoing professional development relevant to ophthalmology and paediatric care.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Recognised qualification in Orthoptics.
- Registration with CORU (or eligibility for registration).
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in Ophthalmology relevant to a Senior Orthoptist role.
- Proven ability to work with a high degree of independence.
- Experience managing or supporting peripheral clinics.
- Strong organisational, communication, and clinical leadership skills.
