The Health Service Executive (HSE) is recruiting a Senior Pharmacist for University Hospital Waterford as part of a supplementary campaign (ref: 25UHWA2611). This permanent wholetime role offers an opportunity to deliver high-quality clinical pharmacy services within a busy acute hospital environment. Open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants, this position forms part of the Health and Social Care Professionals workforce.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide advanced clinical pharmacy services to support safe and effective patient care.
• Deliver expert medication review, therapeutic advice, and medicines information across assigned clinical areas.
• Contribute to medication safety initiatives, governance processes, and policy development.
• Support multidisciplinary teams with evidence-based pharmacotherapy guidance.
• Supervise and mentor junior pharmacy staff and students.
• Participate in service planning, audit, and quality improvement activities.
• Ensure compliance with hospital and national standards, including HSE protocols and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Registered or eligible for registration as a pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI).
• Significant post-registration experience in hospital or clinical pharmacy.
• Demonstrated skills in clinical decision-making, medication safety, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work autonomously and contribute to service enhancement.
• Familiarity with HSE policies, governance, and standards is an advantage.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

• Grade: Senior Pharmacist (Grade Code 3239).
• Contract: Permanent Wholetime.
• Working hours aligned to HSE standard wholetime arrangements.
• Salary and allowances as per the Department of Health Consolidated Pay Scales effective 1 August 2025.
