Job Overview

Sligo University Hospital is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse Oncology Sligo professional to join its Oncology/Haematology service. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a specialist clinical environment delivering high-quality, patient-centred cancer care.

This role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and offers the chance to contribute to a multidisciplinary oncology team within HSE West and North West.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to oncology and haematology patients.
Administer chemotherapy and other prescribed treatments in accordance with hospital protocols.
Monitor patient progress and respond promptly to clinical changes.
Collaborate with consultants, specialist nurses and multidisciplinary teams.
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
Support patients and families through diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Registered as a General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Experience in oncology and/or haematology nursing desirable.
Competence in IV therapy and chemotherapy administration (where applicable).
Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Commitment to continuing professional development.
