The Health Service Executive (HSE) is Ireland’s national healthcare provider, delivering comprehensive health and social care services to the Irish population. We are seeking an experienced Head of Services for the Integrated Healthcare Area (IHA) Louth and Meath in our Dublin North East Region. This is a permanent wholetime senior management position offering the opportunity to lead community health services across two counties.
About the Role
As Head of Services for IHA Louth and Meath, you will provide strategic leadership and operational management for community health services across both counties. This senior management position reports within the Community Services framework and plays a crucial role in delivering integrated healthcare services to the communities of Louth and Meath. You will be responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care delivery while managing resources effectively across the Dublin North East Region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning and implementation of community health services across IHA Louth and Meath
- Manage operational delivery of integrated healthcare services ensuring compliance with HSE standards and policies
- Oversee budget management and resource allocation for community services within the designated geographic area
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including clinical staff, administrative personnel, and external stakeholders
- Ensure quality improvement initiatives are implemented across all service areas within the IHA
- Manage and develop staff while fostering a positive workplace culture aligned with HSE values
- Engage with community partners and statutory agencies to enhance service integration and delivery
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Relevant third-level qualification in healthcare management, business administration, or related field
- Significant senior management experience in healthcare or public service environment, preferably within HSE
- Proven track record in leading large-scale operations and managing complex healthcare services
- Strong understanding of Irish healthcare system, HSE structures, and community health services
- Current eligibility to work within HSE, TUSLA, Section 38 agencies, or statutory health agencies (as per WRC Agreement 161867)
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in healthcare management or related discipline
- Experience with IHA operations or integrated healthcare delivery models
- Knowledge of Louth and Meath regional health service needs and infrastructure
- Demonstrated expertise in change management and service transformation
