Health Care Assistant - HSE Home Support for Sligo & Leitrim

The Health Service Executive is seeking compassionate and reliable professionals for the position of Health Care Assistant Home Support (Formerly Home Help) – Ref SLSC2604 in Sligo and Leitrim.

This Health Care Assistant Home Support Sligo opportunity offers flexible contract options including permanent and specified purpose roles, both part-time and whole-time. You will play a vital role in supporting individuals to remain living independently within their own homes and communities.

Key Responsibilities

Provide personal care and practical support to clients in their own homes.
Assist with activities of daily living including hygiene, dressing, and mobility.
Support clients with meal preparation and light household duties.
Promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing at all times.
Observe and report changes in client condition to relevant healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate records in line with HSE policies.
Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Relevant Health Care Support qualification (or working towards same).
Previous experience in home care or healthcare support desirable.
Full clean driver’s licence.
Access to transport to fulfil requirements of the post (essential).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently within community settings.
Commitment to person-centred care and confidentiality.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Grade: Health Care Support Assistant (Code 6494).
Salary: In line with HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (1 August 2025 revision)
Contract Types: Permanent Part-Time, Permanent Whole-Time, Specified Purpose Part-Time, Specified Purpose Whole-Time.
