HSE staff are getting a 1% pay increase, effective from 1 June 2026. The increase is now being applied across the HSE from 30 July, with the exact date you see it in your account depending on which payroll area you’re in.

What’s changing

  • The increase is 1%, effective from 1 June 2026.
  • It’s applied per annum, or pro rata for anyone working less than full-time hours.
  • Payments cover both your new rate going forward and arrears owed back to the effective date.

When you’ll receive it

The date the increase lands depends on your payroll area. Payroll will start processing payments for new rates and arrears from:

  • The East: Friday 31 July to Monday 31 August
  • Mid West, Midlands, North East, North West, South, South East and West: Thursday 6 August to Monday 31 August

Because processing runs across a window rather than a single date, staff in the same region may see the change land in slightly different pay runs. If you’re paid fortnightly or monthly, the increase and any arrears will appear in the first pay run processed after your area’s start date.

What you should do

  • Check your payslip once your area’s processing window opens, and confirm both the updated rate and the arrears figure.
  • Confirm your pro rata calculation if you work part-time, to make sure the 1% is applied to your actual hours.
  • If something looks off after your area’s window has passed, raise it with your line manager or local HR/payroll office.

You can view the up-to-date rates on the official HSE pay scales.
