Locum Consultant Endocrinology Mayo Hospital

Mayo University Hospital is seeking a Locum Consultant Physician in Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus (Integrated Care) to join its Medical & Dental team. This is an immediate fixed-term wholetime opportunity within HSE West and North West, offering the chance to deliver specialist endocrine and diabetes services across acute and integrated care pathways.

This Consultant Physician Mayo role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to regional service delivery while the permanent post is being filled by the Public Appointments Service (PAS).

Key Responsibilities

Provide specialist consultant-led services in Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus across acute and integrated care settings
Deliver high-quality general (internal) medical care as part of the consultant medical team
Support integrated care pathways in collaboration with primary and community services
Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
Supervise and support NCHDs and multidisciplinary team members
Contribute to service planning and development within the Medicine Directorate
Participate in on-call rotas as required

Required Skills & Qualifications

Registration as a Specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland
Recognised specialities: Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus and General (Internal) Medicine
Proven consultant-level experience in endocrine and diabetes care
Strong leadership and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
Commitment to integrated care and service development

Salary in line with HSE Consultant pay scales (Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales, 1 August 2025)
Fixed Term Wholetime contract
