Job Overview
The National Pensions Payments Manager Grade VIII will lead and manage pension payment operations within National Pensions Management, National HR – HR Shared Services. This senior management role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely and compliant pension payments while driving service excellence and operational efficiency.
This is a key leadership opportunity within the public health service, offering strategic oversight, stakeholder engagement and the opportunity to contribute to high-quality financial governance. One permanent whole-time vacancy is currently available, and a panel may be formed for future vacancies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the National Pensions Payments function to ensure accurate and timely pension processing.
- Oversee compliance with public sector pay policy, pension regulations and financial controls.
- Provide strategic direction and operational leadership to the pensions team.
- Monitor performance metrics and implement service improvements where required.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including HR Shared Services and finance teams.
- Ensure adherence to governance, audit and risk management standards.
- Support blended working arrangements in line with organisational policy and service needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant third-level qualification in business, finance, HR or a related discipline.
- Significant management experience within a complex administrative or public sector environment.
- Strong knowledge of payroll, pensions or financial administration processes.
- Proven leadership and team management capability.
- Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills.
- Experience in governance, compliance and audit processes is desirable.

Location & Employer Information
This role is based at National Pensions Management, Áras Sláinte Chluainin, Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim. The Line Manager is open to engagement regarding the expected level of on-site attendance in line with the Blended Working Policy and operational requirements.
The position is offered within the public health service and forms part of National HR – HR Shared Services, supporting pension operations on a national basis.
