Job Overview
The Project Manager (Grade VIII) will support the delivery of key national quality and patient safety programmes within National Quality & Patient Safety (NQPS). Reporting to senior leadership, the successful candidate will manage complex projects, stakeholder engagement, governance reporting, and implementation of quality initiatives across multiple healthcare settings.
This is a high-impact management role suited to experienced project professionals seeking career progression within the public health sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage national quality improvement and patient safety projects.
- Develop and implement structured project plans aligned with strategic objectives.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders at national level.
- Prepare governance reports, briefings and performance updates.
- Monitor project risks, timelines, deliverables and budgets.
- Support policy implementation and organisational change initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with public sector governance frameworks.
- Attend national meetings as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant third-level qualification in management, healthcare, business, or related field.
- Significant project management experience at senior level.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder programmes.
- Strong analytical, organisational and governance reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Knowledge of healthcare quality and patient safety frameworks (desirable).
- Proven ability to work independently and within national teams.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is aligned to HSE Grade VIII (0655) pay scale, in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (1 August 2025) .
- Public sector Grade VIII salary scale (point dependent).
