Job Overview

The Project Manager (Grade VIII) will support the delivery of key national quality and patient safety programmes within National Quality & Patient Safety (NQPS). Reporting to senior leadership, the successful candidate will manage complex projects, stakeholder engagement, governance reporting, and implementation of quality initiatives across multiple healthcare settings.

This is a high-impact management role suited to experienced project professionals seeking career progression within the public health sector.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage national quality improvement and patient safety projects.
Develop and implement structured project plans aligned with strategic objectives.
Engage with internal and external stakeholders at national level.
Prepare governance reports, briefings and performance updates.
Monitor project risks, timelines, deliverables and budgets.
Support policy implementation and organisational change initiatives.
Ensure compliance with public sector governance frameworks.
Attend national meetings as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Relevant third-level qualification in management, healthcare, business, or related field.
Significant project management experience at senior level.
Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder programmes.
Strong analytical, organisational and governance reporting skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
Knowledge of healthcare quality and patient safety frameworks (desirable).
Proven ability to work independently and within national teams.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Salary is aligned to HSE Grade VIII (0655) pay scale, in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (1 August 2025) .

Public sector Grade VIII salary scale (point dependent).

The General Manager (NQPS) is open to engagement regarding expected on-site attendance in line with blended working policy. National travel may be required.
