Senior Clinical Engineering Technician – Dublin North East | HSE

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Clinical Engineering Technician to join our Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering department in Dublin North East Region. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to advance healthcare technology and patient care.

About the Role

As a Senior Clinical Engineering Technician with HSE, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and managing advanced medical equipment across healthcare facilities in Dublin North East Region. You will work within our Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering department, ensuring the safe and effective operation of life-critical medical technology. This senior-level position reports to the Head of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering and offers opportunities for professional growth in healthcare technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, and repairs on complex medical equipment and devices
  • Conduct safety testing and quality assurance protocols for medical technology systems
  • Provide technical support and training to healthcare staff on medical equipment operation
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to optimize medical equipment performance and patient safety
  • Maintain detailed documentation and compliance records for medical device management
  • Participate in equipment procurement decisions and technology assessments
  • Support emergency equipment repairs and troubleshooting across multiple healthcare facilities

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Level 7/8 qualification in Biomedical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in clinical engineering or medical equipment maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of medical device regulations, IEC standards, and healthcare technology
  • Proven experience with preventive maintenance programs and equipment lifecycle management
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in clinical environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification in Clinical Engineering (e.g., ACCE, IPSE)
  • Experience with specific medical technologies such as imaging systems, life support equipment, or surgical devices
  • Knowledge of healthcare quality management systems and risk management
  • Previous experience working within HSE or public healthcare environment
