Job Overview

The Senior Clinical Engineering Technician Mayo role offers an exciting opportunity to join the Clinical Engineering team at Mayo University Hospital. This permanent wholetime position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe management, maintenance, and optimisation of medical equipment across the hospital.

Working within HSE West and North West, the successful candidate will demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in all aspects of medical equipment management and contribute to the delivery of high-quality Clinical Engineering services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive maintenance, calibration, and repair of a wide range of medical equipment.
  • Lead and support the management of medical device lifecycle processes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards, legislation, and HSE policies.
  • Maintain accurate service records and asset management systems.
  • Support procurement, acceptance testing, and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Deliver technical advice and training to clinical and healthcare staff.
  • Participate in risk assessments and incident investigations relating to medical devices.
  • Contribute to service planning, quality improvement, and performance monitoring initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification in Clinical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Significant experience in medical equipment management within a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise across a broad range of medical devices.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Full eligibility to work in Ireland.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

  • Grade: Clinical Engineering Technician – Senior (Grade Code 3162).
  • Salary: In line with HSE consolidated pay scales and Department of Health Circular 1/2025 (February 2026 adjustments applied).
  • Contract Type: Permanent Wholetime.
