Galway University Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Senior Dietitian (Paediatrics Neonates) to join its multidisciplinary clinical team. This permanent wholetime position offers the opportunity to deliver advanced, evidence-based nutritional care within neonatal and paediatric services in a leading acute hospital setting.

Job Overview

The Senior Dietitian Galway University Hospital role involves providing specialist dietetic services to neonates and paediatric patients. The post holder will demonstrate a high level of clinical knowledge and apply evidence-based practice in the designated clinical areas.

The position forms part of the Health and Social Care Professionals category and is aligned to Grade: Dietitian – Senior (3395) within the HSE structure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced clinical dietetic assessment and intervention for neonatal and paediatric patients.
  • Develop and implement individualised nutrition care plans based on best practice guidelines.
  • Collaborate closely with neonatology and paediatric multidisciplinary teams.
  • Deliver evidence-based practice in accordance with HSE and hospital policies.
  • Supervise, mentor and support junior dietitians and students as required.
  • Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement and service development initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to service planning within Galway University Hospital.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Qualification in Dietetics recognised by CORU.
  • Registration with CORU (or eligibility for registration).
  • Significant post-qualification clinical experience, including paediatric and neonatal nutrition.
  • Demonstrated high level of clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice.
  • Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage a complex clinical caseload independently.

  • Grade: Senior Dietitian (3395) – HSE Salary Scale applies.
