Porter Ford is hiring an experienced Senior Motor Technician for its new, state-of-the-art dealership in Sligo town. This is a senior workshop role for a qualified technician confident in both ICE and EV diagnostic and repair work, ready to bring proven experience, strong productivity, and mentoring skills to a busy and growing aftersales team in the North West.

About the Role

Service and Repair Technicians are the backbone of the Porter Ford aftersales business. Every new and used car and van sold, along with all repair and warranty vehicles, passes through the department. As a Senior Motor Technician you will carry out diagnostic and repair work across the full Ford range, uphold exacting quality standards, and help develop apprentice and newly qualified colleagues. The role offers a clear path toward becoming a Ford Master Technician — the pinnacle of brand certification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and problem-solve using brand diagnostic equipment, working with the service team to identify faults on ICE and EV vehicles.
  • Perform repairs and scheduled maintenance across all Ford vehicle types using Ford-specific software and advanced tools.
  • Inspect vehicles diligently and ensure work is completed right first time before return and pre-delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with Service Advisors, Parts Executives, Sales staff, Ford technical teams, and customers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Carry out Vehicle Health Checks (VHCs), including video VHCs to share with customers.
  • Mentor and develop apprentice and newly qualified technicians, sharing skills to support wider team growth.
  • Engage fully with FordLearn training to progress toward Ford Master Technician status.

Requirements

  • Qualified vehicle service and repair technician with a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience (see application note below regarding experience level).
  • Brand (Ford) experience preferred.
  • Able and willing to work across cars, vans, and electric vehicles.
  • Strong spoken and written English, with the ability to document work carried out clearly and professionally.
  • Full, valid driver’s licence.
  • Motivated to learn on the job and complete full FordLearn responsibilities toward Master Ford Technician certification.

What Porter Ford Offers

  • A dynamic, fast-paced environment where inclusion, learning, and collaboration drive success.
  • The opportunity to work with a top-performing brand and its advanced tools and software.
  • Ongoing training and development to grow your skills and career.
  • A competitive compensation and benefits package.
  • A safe, respectful workplace with genuine opportunity for progression.
  • A role that helps shape the processes and future development of a busy, expanding workshop.
  • Company events and on-site parking.

Salary

Competitive pay, with a competitive compensation and benefits package as outlined by the employer.

Location

Based at Porter Ford’s new, purpose-built dealership in Sligo town, County Sligo. The larger, more expansive workshop supports the full aftersales operation for the North West and offers an excellent base for technicians already in the region or looking to relocate to Sligo. This is an in-person role.

Contract Type

Permanent, full-time.

Application Details

Applicants should be able to reliably commute to Sligo, County Sligo, or plan to relocate before starting. As part of the application, please outline your relevant experience and its duration, including any brands you have worked with.
