Brothers of Charity Services Ireland is seeking a dedicated Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Children’s Disability Network in Galway. This permanent part-time position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families while working with a respected healthcare organization.
About the Role
As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will provide specialized therapeutic services to children with disabilities and their families across our Galway network. You’ll work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, and deliver evidence-based occupational therapy interventions that promote independence and enhance quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for children with various disabilities and developmental needs
- Develop and implement individualized therapy programs based on assessment findings and family goals
- Provide direct therapeutic interventions using evidence-based practices and specialized techniques
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including physiotherapists, speech therapists, and social workers
- Support families and caregivers through education, training, and resource provision
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in care planning meetings
- Contribute to service development initiatives and quality improvement projects
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution
- Current registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council)
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in pediatric occupational therapy or disability services
- Demonstrated experience working with children with developmental disabilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialized training in sensory integration, motor skills development, or assistive technology
- Experience with Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNT) or similar services
- Additional qualifications in areas such as autism spectrum disorders or cerebral palsy management
- Knowledge of Irish healthcare system and disability services framework
