About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Radiographer to join our dynamic medical imaging team at Galway University Hospitals. This senior-level position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge radiographic technology while providing exceptional patient care in a supportive, professional environment. You’ll be part of a team delivering critical diagnostic services across multiple specialties.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex radiographic examinations using advanced medical imaging equipment
- Supervise and mentor junior radiography staff and students
- Ensure adherence to radiation protection protocols and safety standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Participate in quality assurance programs and equipment maintenance protocols
- Contribute to departmental policies, procedures, and best practice development
- Provide emergency and out-of-hours radiographic services as required
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Radiography or equivalent professional qualification
- Current registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council)
- Minimum 3-5 years post-qualification radiography experience
- Demonstrated expertise in general radiography and specialized imaging techniques
- Strong knowledge of radiation protection principles and regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualifications in medical imaging or related field
- Experience in specialized areas (CT, MRI, mammography, interventional)
- Previous supervisory or training experience
- Knowledge of PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems)
- Continuous professional development participation
