Job Overview
The Senior Sonographer Radiographer will provide advanced diagnostic ultrasound services across Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown while supporting service development, patient safety, and clinical governance standards. This position is offered on a Specified Purpose Wholetime contract basis within HSE Dublin and North East.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced ultrasound and diagnostic imaging examinations to a high clinical standard
- Support accurate diagnosis and effective patient management through high-quality imaging services
- Work collaboratively with radiologists, consultants, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Maintain patient safety, confidentiality, and infection prevention standards at all times
- Participate in quality assurance programmes and continuous service improvement initiatives
- Assist with mentoring, supervision, and support of junior radiography staff where required
- Ensure imaging equipment is operated safely and maintained according to departmental procedures
- Contribute to departmental audits, policy implementation, and professional development activities
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Qualification recognised for CORU registration as a Radiographer
- Current CORU registration or eligibility for registration
- Significant postgraduate experience in sonography and diagnostic imaging
- Strong clinical decision-making and patient care skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced acute hospital environment
- Commitment to continuing professional development and clinical excellence
- Previous experience in a senior or specialist sonography role is desirable
