Brothers of Charity Services Ireland is a leading provider of support services for people with intellectual disabilities across Ireland. We are currently seeking dedicated Social Care Workers to join our Intellectual Disability Services team in Strokestown, Co. Roscommon, offering various contract options including permanent, part-time, temporary, and locum positions.
About the Role
As a Social Care Worker specializing in Intellectual Disability Services, you will provide person-centered care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities in our Roscommon facility. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to promote independence, dignity, and quality of life for service users while ensuring compliance with HIQA standards and best practice guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities in accordance with their individual support plans
- Implement person-centered care approaches that promote independence, choice, and dignity for service users
- Assist with daily living activities including personal care, medication administration, and mobility support as required
- Maintain accurate documentation and care records in compliance with HIQA standards and organizational policies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, therapists, and medical professionals to deliver holistic care
- Support service users in community integration activities and social engagement opportunities
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of service users through risk assessment and incident management procedures
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- FETAC Level 5 in Social Care or equivalent qualification in a related field
- Minimum 2 years experience working with people with intellectual disabilities in a care setting
- Knowledge of person-centered care principles and intellectual disability best practices
- Understanding of HIQA standards and regulatory requirements for disability services
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work with diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications
- FETAC Level 6 or higher qualification in Social Care, Disability Studies, or related field
- Experience with positive behavior support strategies and therapeutic interventions
- Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive equipment used in intellectual disability services
- Training in medication administration and first aid certification
