Job Overview
Galway University Hospital is seeking dedicated and skilled Staff Nurses to join its busy Emergency Department. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced acute care environment, delivering high-quality patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team. Both permanent and temporary, full-time and part-time positions are available.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in a timely manner
- Respond effectively to emergency situations and prioritise patient needs
- Work collaboratively with medical and healthcare professionals
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines
- Support patient safety, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Recent post-registration experience in an Emergency Department within the last 5 years
OR - At least one year of recent post-registration experience in a medical or surgical acute hospital setting within the last 2 years
- Relevant qualification in Emergency Nursing (desirable)
- Strong clinical decision-making and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale: €37,788 – €56,032 (based on experience, including incremental progression and long service increments).
Working Hours: Full-time and part-time roles available, including shift work typical of an Emergency Department setting.
