About the Role
Sligo University Hospital is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse ICU to provide exceptional critical care nursing services in our advanced intensive care unit. As part of SUH’s comprehensive acute inpatient, outpatient, and day services, you’ll work in a progressive healthcare environment that includes a Medical Academy partnership with NUI Galway, offering unique educational and professional development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU setting
- Monitor patient vital signs and respond to emergency situations effectively
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by medical staff
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation according to healthcare standards
- Support patient families during critical care situations with compassion and professionalism
- Participate in continuous professional development and training programs
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Valid nursing qualification recognized in Ireland (PIN registration)
- Minimum 2 years experience in critical care or ICU nursing
- Fluent English language skills (written and verbal)
- Current CPR and advanced life support certifications
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialized ICU or critical care nursing certification
- Experience with ventilator management and critical care equipment
- Additional training in emergency response protocols
- Previous experience in Irish healthcare system
