Job Overview
The Staff Nurse Intellectual Disability role focuses on delivering high-quality, person-centred care to individuals with intellectual disabilities across community and residential settings in Donegal. Successful candidates will work as part of multidisciplinary teams to promote independence, dignity, and optimal health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to service users with intellectual disabilities.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Support service users in achieving maximum independence and quality of life.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with professional guidelines and HSE policy.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and records.
- Promote safeguarding, infection prevention, and risk management standards.
- Engage with families, carers, and external agencies to ensure holistic care delivery.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) in the Intellectual Disability Division.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
- Demonstrated experience in intellectual disability nursing (desirable).
- Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to person-centred care and continuous professional development.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is aligned with the HSE Staff Nurse – Intellectual Disability (Grade 213T) pay scale under the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025) .
