Sligo University Hospital, part of the West North West Hospital Group, is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join our Oncology/Haematology Day Services team. About the Role
We are recruiting for one wholetime permanent Staff Nurse position in our Oncology Haematology department. This role offers the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team providing specialized care to patients with cancer and blood disorders in a supportive, state-of-the-art facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to oncology and haematology patients in the day services setting
- Administer chemotherapy and blood products under medical supervision
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and document clinical observations
- Educate patients and families about treatment procedures and side effects
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including doctors, pharmacists, and support staff
- Maintain accurate patient records and comply with hospital policies and procedures
- Support patients and families through difficult treatment journeys with compassion and professionalism
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent qualification
- Fluent English language skills (written and verbal)
- Demonstrated clinical nursing experience
- Knowledge of oncology/haematology nursing practices preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in oncology or haematology nursing
- Post-registration qualifications in oncology nursing
- Experience with chemotherapy administration
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
