Wexford General Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Staff Nurse (Paediatric) to join its Emergency Department team. This permanent role offers an excellent opportunity to deliver high-quality, child-centred emergency care within a busy acute hospital setting.
As a key member of the Emergency Department, you will provide safe, timely and effective care to infants, children and adolescents, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to paediatric patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care plans.
- Recognise and respond promptly to clinical deterioration in paediatric patients.
- Administer medications and treatments in line with hospital policies and best practice guidelines.
- Support and communicate effectively with families and carers.
- Collaborate with medical staff and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Be registered in the Children’s Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Have relevant post-registration experience in paediatric nursing, ideally within an acute or emergency setting.
- Demonstrate strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Show excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be capable of working effectively under pressure in a fast-paced Emergency Department.
