The Role
As a Staff Nurse in the Theatre department at Galway University Hospitals (including Merlin Park University Hospital), you will deliver high-quality perioperative nursing care across a dynamic surgical environment. This is a permanent, wholetime post with the potential to fill current and future vacancies — including specified purpose and part-time positions — from a supplementary panel formed as a result of this campaign.

Salary
€37,788 – €56,032 per annum (HSE Staff Nurse scale, 13-point scale, plus LSIs where applicable), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 February 2026. Theatre nurses participating in On-Call/Standby Emergency Services may also be eligible for additional on-call and call-out allowances as applicable under HSE Circular 33/2003.

Galway University Hospitals is a major acute hospital group serving the West of Ireland, comprising University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital. Together, they provide a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, and specialist services to a large regional population, with the Theatre department supporting a wide breadth of elective and emergency surgical activity. The role is based on-site in Galway.
