St. Columcille’s Hospital, Loughlinstown, Co. Dublin is recruiting a Staff Nurse to join its Theatre team on a permanent part-time basis. This is an opportunity to work within a busy acute surgical environment, contributing to safe, high-quality peri-operative care for patients across HSE Dublin and South East.
About the Role
The Staff Nurse (Theatre) will work as an integral member of the peri-operative nursing team, providing skilled care across scrub, circulating, and recovery functions as required. The post holder will support theatre coordination and contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of surgical services within the hospital.

- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care throughout the peri-operative continuum, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases
- Perform scrub and/or circulating duties across a range of elective and emergency surgical procedures
- Maintain the sterile field and adhere to infection prevention and control protocols at all times
- Assist with the safe positioning, monitoring, and care of patients within the theatre environment
- Participate in swab, instrument, and needle counts in accordance with hospital policy
- Support the effective management of theatre supplies, equipment, and stock
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and theatre efficiency
- Comply with all HSE policies, NMBI standards, and relevant legislative requirements
- Participate in continuing professional development and contribute to a culture of learning and improvement
Requirements / Qualifications

- Be registered in the General division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland), or be entitled to be so registered
- Theatre nursing experience is desirable; candidates with a commitment to peri-operative nursing will also be considered
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong communication, organisational, and clinical assessment skills
- Knowledge of and commitment to patient safety, infection control, and evidence-based practice
- Candidates must have satisfactory immigration permission to work and live in Ireland
Salary
This is a permanent part-time post. Salary is pro-rata and based on the HSE Staff Nurse (Grade 2135) Consolidated Pay Scale, effective 1 June 2026: €38,166 – €54,956 per annum (13-point scale, pro-rata for part-time hours), plus Long Service Increments (LSI) where applicable.
