The Health Service Executive West and North West region is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join our specialized Endoscopy team in Sligo. About the Role
As a Staff Nurse in our Endoscopy department, you’ll apply specialized knowledge and skills in this defined area of nursing practice that’s both in demand and essential for delivering quality patient care. You’ll work within our comprehensive healthcare network serving counties Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal and surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care during endoscopic procedures and patient recovery
- Prepare and maintain endoscopy equipment according to safety protocols and standards
- Monitor patients before, during, and after endoscopic procedures
- Assist medical staff with complex endoscopic interventions and treatments
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with HSE standards
- Educate patients and families about procedures, aftercare, and recovery expectations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Fluent English language skills (written and spoken)
- Relevant nursing qualification recognized in Ireland
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in endoscopy or gastroenterology nursing
- Post-graduate qualification in endoscopy nursing or related specialty
- Experience working within the Irish healthcare system
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
