We are seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our team in Ballytobin, Kilkenny, offering a permanent part-time position with meaningful career opportunities.
About the Role
As a Support Worker with Brothers of Charity Services Ireland, you will provide person-centered support to individuals with disabilities, helping them achieve their personal goals and maintain independence. This Care Assistant role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives while working within a supportive, professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care and support to individuals with disabilities in their daily activities
- Assist with personal care needs including mobility, personal hygiene, and medication administration
- Support individuals in developing life skills and maintaining independence
- Implement individual support plans and contribute to care planning processes
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with organizational policies
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, therapists, and family members
- Ensure a safe, respectful, and dignified environment for all service users
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent educational qualification
- Experience working with people with disabilities or in a caring environment (preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical ability to provide personal care support
- Garda vetting clearance (or willingness to obtain)
- Full driving license (desirable)
Preferred Qualifications
- QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support, Disability Studies, or related field
- First Aid certification
- Experience with person-centered planning approaches
- Knowledge of disability rights and best practices
- Previous experience in residential or community-based disability services
