HSE Dublin and North East Region is seeking a dedicated Medical Manpower Manager (Grade VII) to join our team at Connolly Hospital in Dublin North. This permanent wholetime position offers an excellent opportunity to play a crucial role in medical workforce planning and management within one of Ireland’s leading healthcare networks.
About the Role
As Medical Manpower Manager at Connolly Hospital, you will be responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, and management of medical staffing across the hospital. This Grade VII management position involves working closely with clinical directors, consultant staff, and senior management to ensure optimal medical workforce deployment and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive medical manpower planning strategies for Connolly Hospital
- Coordinate medical staff recruitment, deployment, and retention initiatives across all departments
- Manage consultant and NCHD rosters to ensure appropriate clinical coverage and compliance
- Liaise with clinical directors and department heads on staffing requirements and resource allocation
- Monitor and analyze medical workforce data to identify trends and optimization opportunities
- Ensure compliance with medical council regulations, working time directives, and HSE policies
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams on budgeting and cost management for medical staffing
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Third level qualification in healthcare management, business administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years experience in healthcare management or medical administration roles
- Proven experience in workforce planning and human resource management
- Strong knowledge of Irish healthcare system, HSE structures, and medical governance
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in data analysis
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in healthcare management or related field
- Previous experience in medical manpower planning within acute hospital settings
- Familiarity with medical staffing regulations and consultant contract arrangements
- Experience with healthcare workforce planning systems and databases
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
