We’re seeking a dedicated Health Care Assistant to join our disability services team in Leitrim on a permanent, full-time or part-time basis with competitive salary of €38,140 – €40,370 per year.

About the Role

Join our innovative residential disability services team providing 24/7 specialized care and support to people with intellectual and physical disabilities. As a Health Care Assistant in our Leitrim facility, you’ll work flexible shifts including sleep-ins and night duty, delivering person-centered care in accordance with HIQA regulations and standards while supporting individuals with complex needs in their daily activities and routines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct personal care and support to adults and children with intellectual and physical disabilities according to individual Integrated Care Plans
  • Facilitate social interactions and activities for service users both individually and in group settings, promoting independence and quality of life
  • Act as an advocate for service users and their families, ensuring appropriate information, support, and person-centered care delivery
  • Maintain comprehensive care documentation and participate in team meetings, staff forums, and communication processes
  • Ensure safe equipment handling and maintain awareness of safety precautions and protocols in residential care settings
  • Uphold strict confidentiality standards for the organization and all service users at all times
  • Work flexible shift patterns including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and sleep-in duties to meet 24/7 service requirements

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • QQI Level 5 Healthcare qualification or equivalent certification in healthcare or disability studies
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in similar environments supporting adults or children with intellectual and physical disabilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of supporting individuals with complex needs in residential or community settings
  • Full manual driver’s license with current eligibility to drive in Ireland (mandatory requirement)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with HIQA regulations and standards in disability services
  • Additional specialized training in autism, behavioral support, or complex care needs
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Experience with person-centered planning and care documentation
