Muirosa Foundation is a leading Section 38 organization providing innovative support services for people with intellectual disabilities and autism. We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Therapist to join our evolving psychological services team in Tullamore, Offaly. About the Role
Join our progressive psychological services team as a Behaviour Therapist specializing in intellectual disability and autism services. You’ll work closely with our Senior Psychologist and Principal Psychology Manager, providing psychological supports to adults with intellectual disabilities, autism, and mental health concerns. The office base is flexible between Portarlington or Tullamore.

Our approach recognizes that human distress is often a frustration response resulting from chronic stress, and we base interventions on comprehensive assessments within each person’s environmental context.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments for adults with intellectual disabilities, autism, and mental health concerns
- Design and implement individualized behavioral support plans based on person-centered approaches and evidence-based interventions
- Provide clinical supervision and guidance to staff teams supporting people with complex needs
- Deliver specialized training programs to staff on behavioral interventions and support strategies
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including Senior Psychologist and Principal Psychology Manager
- Develop innovative therapeutic approaches aligned with neuroaffirmative and trauma-informed practices
- Maintain detailed clinical records and contribute to service development initiatives
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Honours primary degree in psychology or equivalent
- Post-graduate professional qualification in behavioural psychology or equivalent (e.g., BCBA), or actively working towards qualification
- Eligible for membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland
- Demonstrated experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities and autistic adults with high support needs
- Proven expertise in designing individualized support arrangements for adults with exceptional needs
- Knowledge of evidence-based interventions for families and staff teams supporting people with complex needs
- Staff training competencies with ability to deliver effective professional development
- Full driving license, access to car, and ability to travel across broad geographical area
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of social role valorisation principles
- Commitment to person-centred values and human rights-based approaches
- Experience with neuroaffirmative practices and trauma-informed care
- Knowledge of Gestalt language processing approaches
