HSE Dublin and Midlands is seeking an experienced Consultant Otolaryngologist to join the ENT Department at Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore. This is a Specified Purpose Wholetime contract offering the opportunity to provide specialist ear, nose, and throat services in a modern healthcare facility.
About the Role
We are looking for a qualified Consultant Otolaryngologist to deliver comprehensive ENT services at our Tullamore facility in County Offaly. This specialized position involves providing expert medical and surgical care for patients with conditions affecting the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck. You will join an established ENT team and work within a supportive hospital environment serving the Midlands region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive otolaryngology consultation and treatment services for outpatient and inpatient care
- Perform ENT surgical procedures including ear, nose, throat, head and neck surgeries as required
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Participate in on-call rotas and emergency ENT services at Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore
- Contribute to clinical governance activities, audit processes, and quality improvement initiatives
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and trainees in otolaryngology practices
- Engage in continuing professional development and maintain specialist medical registration
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Medical degree and full registration with the Medical Council of Ireland
- Specialist qualification in Otolaryngology (ENT) from a recognized training program
- Minimum 5+ years post-fellowship experience in consultant-level otolaryngology practice
- Current membership of relevant professional bodies (Irish College of Surgeons or equivalent)
- Proven expertise in general ENT surgery and head and neck procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional subspecialty training in areas such as rhinology, laryngology, or head and neck surgery
- Experience working within the Irish healthcare system or similar public health environment
- Research experience and academic publications in otolaryngology field
- Leadership experience in ENT departments or specialist services
