Mallow General Hospital, part of HSE South West, is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) to join the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse leader to contribute to patient-centered care within a dynamic acute hospital environment.
About the Role
As a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 in the Medical Assessment Unit, you will oversee the coordination and delivery of nursing care, ensuring high clinical standards and efficient patient flow through the unit. The post is a Specified Purpose Wholetime position, based in Cork.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support nursing teams in delivering evidence-based patient care within the Medical Assessment Unit.
- Manage staff rosters, training, and performance in line with HSE policies.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, health and safety, and clinical governance standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient assessment, treatment, and discharge.
- Contribute to service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support implementation of HSE strategic and operational objectives at hospital level.
- Promote professional development and mentorship among nursing staff.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience, with at least 2 years in an acute hospital setting.
- Proven management and leadership experience at CNM1 or equivalent level.
- Strong clinical knowledge in acute medicine or emergency care.
Preferred
- Postgraduate qualification in Management or relevant clinical specialty.
- Experience in change management and service development.
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and team leadership skills.
