The HSE West and North West invites applications for Senior House Officer and Registrar positions in Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) across Galway, Roscommon, and Mayo. About the Role

Successful candidates will provide psychiatric care within acute and community mental health services. Positions are available in Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAMHS), supporting consultant-led teams in assessment, diagnosis, and management of mental health conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality clinical care under consultant supervision.
  • Conduct psychiatric assessments, mental state examinations, and risk evaluations.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and treatment planning.
  • Manage case notes and clinical documentation in accordance with HSE standards.
  • Participate in on-call and rostered duties as required.
  • Engage in teaching, audit, and research activities within the department.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of patient safety and service delivery.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • Registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).
  • Full driving licence and access to own transport, as travel between sites may be required.
  • At least one year’s post-graduation experience in Psychiatry (desirable but not mandatory for SHO level).

Preferred

  • Experience within Irish or UK psychiatric services.
  • Commitment to training and professional development in Psychiatry.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and clinical decision-making skills.

What We Offer

  • Salary (1 August 2025 scales):
    • Senior House Officer: €54,203 – €74,133 per annum (7 points).
    • Registrar: €68,891 – €81,126 per annum (6 points).
      (as per HSE Consolidated Salary Scales, effective 1 August 2025)
  • Contract Type: Fixed Term, Wholetime.
  • Structured postgraduate supervision and exposure to diverse clinical settings.
